The Aurora Commons was founded primarily for outearch and support for the sex workers on North Aurora. A lot of the homeless men and women in the area come there as well, because they’d never turn anyone away. It’s a safe place they can go to cook food, congregate, receive harm reduction services for sex work and drugs and non-judgemental love and care from the marvelous ladies that work there.

Christmas at the Commons started really small and has grown over the years. Like the last few years, with the help of BWB Seattle and other benefactors we provided a Christmas brunch (with lots of bacon!) and goody bags with $20 gift cards to over 100 people. One of our volunteers even came out to cook bacon for her 17th birthday!

A note from the Aurora Commons organizers: “Please pass along our deepest Gratitude for the not only the hard work but your spirits of love and joy that you brought to the Commons.  The community at the Commons rarely feels seen BUT on December 20th, there was no question that the Commons Family was not only seen but pursued by the broader community in Seattle.  Thank you for being a huge part of that. Who would have thought that bacon could change the world?”
