We kicked off the year with an awesome organization up in Everett. Cocoon House works to support young
people and prevent youth homelessness. This comes in the form of both emergency and long-term housing as
well as a safe place for young people to utilize the resources like laundry and computers that Cocoon House
provides. People ages 16-24 are at huge risk because many of them do not qualify for the same support that
children do, but are not able to safely utilize the resources provided for homeless adults.

Cocoon House seeks to fill that gap, and BWBS helped them with their Point in Time Count, essentially a
county by county census of the homeless populations. This is hugely important because these numbers are
what determine the state funding that organizations receive to support the community for the coming year. We
had two volunteers helping people fill out the survey and giving out toiletries and pieces of clothing. We also
provided salad and pizza for dinner for all the people at the center for the evening, as well as snacks and sack
lunch ingredients for the following day.

Thanks to everyone who made it all the way up to Everett to help with this great event.
